This thread is the place for new members (which is all of us at this point) to come in and introduce themselves! Now that we've got several new members and lots of fresh web traffic coming into the forums I think the time is ripe for the classic "Introductions thread". ;D So don't be shy! Introduce yourself and tell us about what makes you... YOU! Tell us how you found the forums and what things you're interested in. We can all meet each other, shake virtual hands and make some new friends lol. Doesn't that sound great? haha Since I'm the fool who started this thread that means I have to go first... but you guys better not leaving me hanging!

So here goes...
My name is Aaron, and I'm 24 years old. I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana near LSU campus (no, I'm not a student); just moved here about three months ago from the middle of nowhere (way out in the country) and I love it!
I've been programming and developing software for over 7 years now. But as of right now I'm making my living as an individual day trader; I trade stocks, options, futures & commodities and FOREX (currency). I really love trading! I get to work from my little home office and write code to my heart's content while I watch CNBC and let the markets move. But now I'm working hard to turn this little enterprise into a full-fledged business; eventually a conglomerate focused in investment finance and software. "ATCWARE" is intended to be technological subsidiary and HQ of this business. Right now it is engaged in the development of what is essentially our "flagship product"; a 100% managed, platform and API agnostic game & simulation engine written in C#. We have some games and other projects planned for the future, but right now the main focus is getting this engine completely PC-ready!
Anyhow, I suppose that concludes my introduction. Now it's your turn!

I'll follow up then. I'm Colin, I'll be 18 in...I think 9 days, (however many days next Tuesday is) I live in Rhode Island, near one of our 225 Dunkin' Donuts. I'm majoring in Law Enforcement, and minoring (that a word?) in Computer Science. I've been programming since I entered highschool what feels like a long time ago, I know mostly Visual Basic and C#, with a little bit of Python. I more or less mod games, and make modding tools for games. I've been involved in a couple of corporate website projects but that's the extent of my experience. I really like low-level, interacting with hardware, but I'm not that great at it. Yet anyways, lol. I much prefer games (and movies) to have realistic convincing characters and plot to simple mindless shooting and explosions. Same with the gameplay approach, I'm a firm believer in letting the user make as much of their experience as possible. I love creating things as much as possible.

I'm Darcy. I live in South Australia, in a Town 4 hours aways from the capitol of the state. I'm 17 right now, and about to finish my final year of school (YES!). I tried doing IT at school, but my teacher was the worst bastard in the world, so I quit it. I wish I did do IT now though, only with a different teacher, he was worthless. I also wish I done art class. Anyways, I have no programming experience, only a tiny bit from my website: imperiaantiquitas.weebly.com I have been modding Total War games for a few years now, although never managed to finish one because realy life always sticks its big nose in the way. I personally love strategy games, CIV, Total War, even Age of Empire and Empire Earth, but especially all Paradox strategy games, damn they got some detail compared to everything else.
I think that's it.

Hmm ok, well, my name is Reegan, I live in England (currently Staffordshire in rented accommodation). I'm studying a BSc in Computer Science, with the intent of getting into tools and engine development, for games of course (and then who knows after that). I've been programming for some time now, lets see, I got my start in Gamemaker 6.0 age 15 (it was brand new at the time people were upgrading from 5.x, and still owned by the university professor who developed it initially) which was pretty cool and introduced me to my passion for programming :)and I'm now pushing 23 (next month ). Primarily I toy with C++, but I am also quite capable of programming in C, C#, Java as you can well imagine (the languages being pretty similar an all). I recently moved to MinGW and Notepad++ for all my C++ work just because of all the new C++11 goodies, before then it was pretty much Visual Studio. Some people might say that using just a text editor and the command line tools hurts productivity, but in my line of work which is small scale library development its not so bad . By the time the library is ready to used by the general populous of programmers most compilers should have implemented the necessary features of C++11 (I hope). Then there are the miscellaneous things I know how to use/do, such as writing makefiles, using certain libraries like SFML, etc.. I'm sure you will come to discover these minor skills as time goes on though I also have a keen interest in artistic works, have done since I was very little. Occasionally I will venture into digital content creation such as; 3D modelling, 2D pixel-art, digital painting, and more but I've been too focused on programming and school recently to do any such work. I met Aaron over in another forum, we got to speaking about projects and other such things over skype, and he offered me a place on the development team for the engine he had been working on, I agreed to chip in on a part time basis (because of school) and now here I am! Work that I have done so far for the engine is mostly maintenance work on some key data structures but this should change once I sign my NDA. I think that's about it, any questions don't hesitate to ask and I will get back to you as soon as possible . Sorry for the poorly structured introduction typing in this quick reply box isn't helping haha. Cheers!

Hello! My name is Alexandre C. aka skarab, 29yo, programmer, France. I do mainly demos and a game-dev related project, and I'm looking some gamedev contacts to get "early" random thoughts about it. Going to jump into API section
